Charice wins at Kids' Choice Awards in US



MANILA, Philippines – International singing sensation Charice continues to make a name for herself in the international scene as she was given a new recognition at the Nickelodeon’s 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards.

The Filipina singer was hailed as the Favorite Asian Act, beating other nominees including Wonder Girls of Korea, Yuna of Malaysia and Agnes Monica of Indonesia.


In its official list of nominees, Nickelodeon Asia noted Charice’s early achievements after her YouTube videos caught a lot of attention.

The voting concluded on March 31 and the awards night was held at the University of Southern California Galen Center in Los Angeles.

It will be televised in the Philippines on April 14.

Meanwhile, celebrities have already congratulated Charice for her big win.

Filipino-American Hollywood actor Reggie Lee said: “@OfficialCharice Big congratulations anak!! Just heard the great news...well deserved!”

Tony Award winner Lea Salonga, on the other hand, said: “@OfficialCharice Just heard the good news, CONGRATULATIONS!!!”

As for television host Kat de Castro, she said: “Happy for @OfficialCharice! She won as Favorite Asian Act in Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards 2012.”

Several fans of Charice have also expressed their happiness over the singer’s recognition.

“You deserve to be the winner @OfficialCharice #CongratsChariceKCA” said Twitter user @ZeyLunatic.

“@OfficialCharice Congrats Charice! I voted for you a hundred times :-) not kidding.lol,” said @cyrilandrea.

Twitter user @AngieleneA said: “@OfficialCharice Charice!! I heard the good news! CONGRATS! For winning the KCA2102 for FaveAsianAct! Yey PROUD Pinay!”
